PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- Network Technician 2002-Present
3Rivers Telephone Fairfield, MT
- Assisted in the rollover of a subsidiary company containing ISP operations
into the parent company - a rural cooperative Telco. Worked with various
department heads to establish procedures for orders, provisioning, deployment,
customer turn-up and trouble reporting and resolution. Maintained and
improved all ISP network operations including routers, ATM switching,
long-haul circuits, DSLAM's, DLC's, dialup connectivity and network monitoring.
Maintained all inside-plant ISP related equipment and was a lead troubleshooter
in outside-plant DSL and dialup issues. Worked with Engineering to develop
short- and long-term goals and priorities for data communications, including
VoDSL and ISP connectivity. Worked with other Network Department members
as needed for maintaining and troubleshooting non data-related network
facilities.
- Network Services Coordinator 2002

- Refined and improved the robustness and flexibility of the dial-up,
DSL and fractional-T1 Internet offering of the non-regulated division
of a rural cooperative Telco. Implemented new configuration and problem-solving
procedures. Improved communication and coordination with the core Telco
and the network services provider. Increased network awareness with detailed
and advanced network-monitoring utilities.
- Data Engineer 2000-2001
Western Wireless Corp. Bellevue, WA
- Responsible for the creation of an ISP for the CLEC division's joint
Internet and Voice offerings. Implemented router configurations with protocols
such as OSPF, BGP and ATM for DSL and Fractional T1 access and redundant
upstream Internet connectivity. Also implemented Unix servers and configured
essential Internet services such as DNS, Sendmail and Apache Web Server.
Additionally responsible for the configuration of the CLEC's three-city
ATM backbone and was actively involved in the refinement of the implementation
of Voice over DSL.
- Network Administrator 1998-2000
IWBC.NET Everett, WA
- Responsible for IP and Voice network operations. Designed and implemented
network growth from a single, data-only POP with a single upstream provider
to a three-city data and voice network. Designed and implemented router
and network access server configurations with protocols such as OSPF,
BGP, Frame Relay, and ATM for redundant intercity and upstream Internet
connections as well as wholesale dialup, frame-relay and DSL access. Installed
Class 4 Tandems and implemented configurations with PRI, SS7, MF and DTMF
trunks for interconnection with local exchange carriers and international
long distance. Also implemented voice-compression (VoFR). Additional responsibilities
included design of network monitoring and fault-detection systems with
hand-written scripts and available utilities such as MRTG and scotty/tkined.

Outsource Technologies Inc. Vancouver, WA
- Consulted and assisted with the creation and integration of an ISP
tailored for firewall-protected services. Responsible for router configuration
and operation, Unix server installation and configuration of services
such as DNS, Sendmail, Secure Shell, and telnet. Also responsible for
network monitoring and fault detection with self-written scripts and commonly
available utilities such as MRTG and Scotty/TKined.
